Snowing at Shell BeachShell Beach Australia

Shell beach is located on the North West cost of Western Australia, just inside the shark bay world heritage area. The 60km beach is made up of billions of white 'coquina bivalve' sea shells. There are only a few locations in the world where shells replace the beach sand. A truly amazing place.

Kangaroos at PinnarooThe 'Roos' of Pinnaroo

Pinnaroo is a memorial park located just outside Perth in Australia; all of the fresh flowers that are laid attract Kangaroos from the surround bush land. This little Joe had decided that he wanted to get back into his mums pouch; I don't think mum was so keen.

Pelican at Monkey MiaPelican at Monkey Mia

Monkey Mia is Famous for its wild dolphins that come into the beach every morning to be feed. At feeding time if you look behind you there will be a number of these curious looking birds being distracted by the park rangers.

Jelly fish AQWA PerthAQWA - Aquarium of Western Australia

I was a little suspicious as to how these shots would turn out as usually shooting in an aquarium comes with all of the difficulties of not using a flash, shooting throw glass and blurred images due to the longer exposure required. But happily a careful bit of planning and equipment selection ensured that I achieved some stunning images, I think that my particular favourite has to be the jellyfish.

PerthBank West Tower Perth

Whilst I have never thought of Perth as a high rise city I was quite please with the series of low angle shots that I was able to achieve. This shot of the Bank West tower I particularly like as the sun forms a sort of halo around the building.

The other great area for photography in Perth is Kings park, this 1000 acres on outskirts of the city. You get the most amazing views of the Central business district and the swan river from the park. The park is packed with loads of amazing plants and wildlife as well as memorials to Australian soldiers. Sadly about 2 weeks after shooting in the park much of of it was damaged by a bush fire.

Road to KalbaireOn a road to nowhere

This stretch of road was shot just outside a Kalbarie, a town about 600km north of Perth. We clocked the road and found that this stretch was about 77km long. This series includes a number of shots of the red sand in the National park and some shots of the stunning coast line at Kalbarie.

Dolphins at Monkey Mia Dolphins at Monkey Mia

As well as being one of my favourite mammals I think that if you can get close enough dolphins make great subject matter as they always seem to have a very enquiring look about them.

Cottesloe beachGulls On Cottesloe Beach

This completely unplanned series of shots was taken at a beach just outside Perth. The series consist of some great sepia tone shots of gulls playing in the surf, various texture shots of sand and tide and some fairly striking sunset shots.
